Automotive key experience is preferred, but a mechanical background is necessary.

What does a Car Key Technician do?

• Generates automotive keys when all keys have been lost/stolen
• Duplicates auto keys when customer wants a spare key
• Programs remotes, push-to-start keys (aka: prox keys, fobik keys), anti-theft keys, etc.
• Extracts broken keys from ignitions/door locks
• Assesses "my key will not turn in my ignition any longer" situations and informs customer whether or not it is a worn out key or that the ignition needs repaired or replaced.
• Replaces and Repairs Ignitions
• Re-keys vehicle door locks in order to make ignition key work the door lock if ignition has been replaced
• Re-keying or Installation of commercial/residential locks
• Foot marketing: Going from car lot to car lot trying to earn their business, passing out business cards to gas stations, etc.

5 day shifts

Day shifts:

• Our goal is to be able to : 1. Contact each customer within 20 minutes of them calling in
• 2. Complete each job the same day service was requested.
• From 8 am- 6 pm if any locksmith service request comes in you must immediately head to the customer and complete the job (if you are not onsite at another job). This is not a good position for someone that is not organized or someone that does not have good time management skills. If you are unable to mentally process scheduling jobs based on customer's location, the amount of time they've been waiting, and the scope of work this is most likely not a good fit for you. If you are not a team player or do not like communication with co-workers this is not a good fit for you.

• Must live in Jefferson City area. We must be able to arrive at our customers' location within 20 minutes)

• Paid bi-weekly
• Opportunity to gross $800 - $1000+ per week STARTING OUT if you are willing to work . As you learn more and get faster your pay will increase drastically due to completing more jobs per day.
• You must be fast, friendly, self-motivating and extremely customer service driven. You must have a clean driving record for insurance purposes, a clean background for state licensing and road club contract purposes, so please do not apply if you cannot pass a background check.

Sample day of a Batteries Plus Bulbs Locksmith:

Our goal is 6-7 completed jobs a day. If you complete 7 jobs (excluding key duplicates at a dealership) that is an awesome day especially for a new locksmith.

Our ideal employee is not afraid to work. They are extremely motivated. They are the type of person that will take a look at their phone on their day off and think, "Wow, the locksmiths are really backed up today! Let me call and see if I can help them out at all".

Entry-level locksmiths start out at 30% commission. The national average for commission-based entry-level locksmiths is around 15-20% commission. We offer 30% because we want our locksmiths to stay and we want them to love & value their job. Over time you will prove you are staying with us for the long-term; You will become an expert locksmith and your commission percentage will be raised.

If you are an experienced locksmith your commission percentage is negotiable.
