Job Description
Job Summary:
We are seeking a meticulous and experienced Cabinet Finisher to join our production team. In this role, you will be responsible for preparing, staining, painting, and finishing wood surfaces to create high-quality custom cabinetry. The ideal candidate has an eye for detail, strong knowledge of finishing techniques, and takes pride in producing beautiful, durable finishes that meet exacting standards.
Key Responsibilities:
Prepare wood surfaces by sanding, filling, and cleaning before finishing
Mix and apply stains, paints, sealers, lacquers, and other finishing products
Match and blend colors to achieve consistent finishes across multiple pieces
Inspect surfaces for imperfections and apply touch-ups as needed
Operate spray booths, HVLP sprayers, and other finishing equipment
Ensure proper drying, curing, and handling of finished components
Maintain a clean and organized finishing area
Follow safety procedures and handle all finishing chemicals responsibly
Collaborate with cabinet makers and installers to meet project timelines
Qualifications:
Proven experience in wood finishing, preferably in a cabinet or furniture production setting
Strong knowledge of wood stains, sealers, and finishing techniques (spray, hand-wipe, brush, etc.)
Ability to match colors and achieve consistent, high-quality finishes
Attention to detail and commitment to craftsmanship
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Familiarity with safety regulations and proper handling of chemicals
Physical ability to lift and maneuver cabinetry and work in a shop environment
Trade certification in finishing or woodworking (an asset, not required)
Working Conditions:
Shop environment with exposure to stains, lacquers, dust, and fumes
Standing, lifting, bending, and repetitive tasks
Use of personal protective equipment (PPE) is required
Regular hours with occasional overtime to meet project deadlines
