PURPOSE OF POSITION:
To provide supervision, training and support to Employees who are working at Goodwill of Orange County and Participating in the Career Pathways program. This position is responsible for assisting program participants in providing guidance and support in achieving ICFP Goals, ensuring job retention, assisting program participants in completing training activities, assisting program participants with resources needed to achieve career planning goals as outlined in ICFP, promoting Goodwill’s brand, meeting with program participants at work-sites, acting as a liaison between program participants and career navigator, and completing required program documentation.
SUPERVISION RECEIVED:
Reports directly to the Career Pathway Supervisor.
SUPERVISION EXERCISED:
Will supervise, train, and support program participants.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Assumes a caseload of program participants ready for coaching services as recommended by the Career Pathways Supervisor. Provide personal and career counseling for program participants in line with their established ICFP. Maintains consistent and effective communication with program participants, Career Navigators, job site supervisors, and others within the program participant’s circle of support to ensure positive outcomes. Assists in monitoring progress of career goals and works with individuals to access trainings and resources to aid in career development. Completes all necessary paperwork including but not limited to case notes, monthly statistics, progress reports, and ICFP progress. Communicates with participants, support network, and Career Navigator as appropriate to help program participants succeed in the workforce and achieve professional goals. Become familiar with the needs and limitations of assigned program participants to ensure appropriate resources and assistance are provided. Assists Career Navigator by attending and aiding in facilitating program enrollments. Promotes peer support component at intake. Demonstrate cooperation and ongoing communication with Career Navigator by providing necessary interventions that support positive vocational outcomes. Supports ongoing vocational trainings and/or skills workshops to bolster success and career development of program participants. Assists program participants in accessing community resources to facilitate greater well-being and independence (e.g. transportation, affordable housing, counseling, etc.) Aids in advocating program participants needs relating to training with area supervisor. Drives on company business as required. Performs other job-related duties as required. Safeguards company property, including donated goods. Reports any incidents of theft or unauthorized possession of company property. Acts safely at all times, following all safety rules and regulations. Follows all company policies and procedures. Promotes and demonstrates cooperation and teamwork. Assists and shares knowledge and information with other employees as needed. Uses good interpersonal skills such as courtesy, sensitivity, politeness, and thoughtfulness. Works with, trains, and/or acts as a good example for program participants.
MINIMUM JOB REQUIREMENTS:
High school or GED required; some college course work in human services or related area preferred. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills. Effective grammar, English and writing skills. PC Proficiency in MS Office. Reliable transportation, valid California driver’s license, liability insurance, and a DMV record acceptable to Goodwill’s insurance carrier.
