Job Title: Catholic Mass Accompanist

Location: Joint Base MDL, NJ 08641

Tasks and Duties:

• The music accompanist shall provide the necessary support to facilitate worship music at the Sunday Catholic Mass Service.
• Programming will heavily emphasize congregational music within the Catholic tradition, as directed by the Catholic Chaplain.
• The applicant will meet the needs of a Catholic Community.
• The music program will be designed to provide appropriate music ministry within the Catholic worship setting.
• The Music accompanist will monitor chapel musical instruments. Advise the Catholic chaplain in charge of the service of any needed repair, preventative maintenance, or replacement.
• While in the performance of the duties, the applicant shall maintain good personal hygiene and well-groomed, professional appearance.
• The applicant is required to be an active participation in the Catholic community at Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst.

Education and Experiences:

• An undergraduate degree in music with a high organ and piano proficiency in Catholic music OR a minimum of five years’ experience leading a Catholic congregation and/or
• choir with organ and piano accompaniment.
• Provides an audition to demonstrate the ability to accompany a Catholic Cantor, choir and congregation, and possession of high competence in organ and piano techniques.
• Documented musical abilities and/or volunteer experience are mandatory.
• Demonstrate a commitment to and a familiarity with the Christian faith as practiced in the Catholic tradition with 2 reference letters.
• Possess highly effective communication skills including conflict resolution working with adults and children; possess the ability to transpose rhythmic accuracy, music sensitivity, and a demonstrated appreciation of liturgical aesthetics.
