Scheck Hillel Community School, a large Orthodox Jewish community school located in sunny North Miami Beach, Florida is currently accepting resumes for an experienced full time Lower School K-5th Director of Student Services (Special Education) for the 2025-2026 school year.

Job Summary

The Director of Student Services is responsible for overseeing, coordinating, and supporting student-related services (such as ESOL, Learning Center, Nativ program, and Learning Profiles) and advocating for the whole child. The Director of Student Services is a vital part of the Lower School Administrative Team which supports the quality of teaching and learning across all school environments and leads the implementation of educational best practices and strategies across all lower school departments. In addition, the Director of Student Services supports early intervention efforts that include but are not limited to: the Nativ program, ESOL, and Learning Center.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities

The Director of Students Services will support Scheck Hillel Community School's Mission and Judaic Principles. The essential duties and responsibilities that have been identified are to:
  • Lead and support the integration process for students receiving special services
  • Consult with the leadership team to hire, mentor, and train, LS Faculty and Staff
  • Consult with the Leadership team regarding enrollment decisions
  • Support creating and implementing student-centered schedules
  • Design, Deliver, and Support Professional Development
  • Contribute to curriculum design, inventory, and implementation
  • Advocate for instructional excellence in the least restrictive environment
  • Observe, model, and support teachers with meaningful strategies and robust training
  • Attend Professional Learning Community (PLC) meetings and Child Study Team (CST) meetings
  • Construct student action plans based on Child Study Checklist (CSC)
  • Build Learning Profiles (LPs) that are relevant, meaningful, and support students' needs based on family-provided ed-psych testing
  • In collaboration with students, teachers, and families, update LPs annually
  • Review and ensure that LPs are implemented with fidelity in all learning environments
  • Participate in curriculum meetings advocating for child-centered decision-making that encompasses differentiation, evidence-based instruction, executive function, and other modalities.
  • Liaise as a child advocate between Hillel and its educational partners regarding schedules and transitions
  • Oversee and support the integration process of students pushing into mainstream classes from Nativ or Hillel's educational partners and support the teachers receiving those students with strategies, training, processes, communication, etc.
  • Participate in curriculum meetings supporting the quality of teaching and learning through specific teaching strategies including special education, executive function, and other modalities.
  • Establish and support robust communication with teachers, parents, administrators, and counselors to support the "whole child"
  • Organize and communicate testing accommodation logistics with administrators and teachers
  • Fulfill all assigned duties and responsibilities

Qualification Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Education, Master's degree in Education Administration or related field
  • 3-5 years of experience as a teacher, with program coordination and supervisory experience preferred; or any equivalent combination of training and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities.
