About the Job  

Water & Land Solutions (WLS) has an immediate opening for a Senior Project Manager to join our team in Virginia. We have several exciting projects in the pipeline, with more on the horizon! This role's primary responsibility is to be a technical leader in business development, producing mitigation documents, project management, and staff leadership. The Senior Project Manager plays a significant role in ensuring that projects are completed on time and in compliance with all state and federal regulations. You will also assist with evaluating new projects. Our Senior Project Manager develops positive relationships with regulatory agencies, consultants, and land trusts in the environmental permitting and mitigation industries. This position is expected to demonstrate mentorship, strong organizational skills, attention to detail, a team mentality, independent problem-solving, and practical communication skills. 

 
What You Will Do  

• Execute environmental mitigation projects to restore ecosystems and natural habitats.
• Identify project goals, objectives, and scope and create a project plan that outlines the tasks, timelines, and resources required.
• Communicate with the project team and stakeholders, manage risks and issues, and monitor progress to projects meet schedule and financial goals.

• Calculate mitigation credits on prospective project sites using USM and VADEQ methodologies.

• Prepare regulatory documents, including 404/401 permits, mitigation banking documents, and monitoring reports.

Ideal Candidates  

BA/BS degree; preferable in Natural Resources, Ecology, Environmental Science, Forestry, Wildlife or Fisheries Management, Agricultural Science, or comparable education/experience:

• A professional background in VA environmental consulting and mitigation. Including positive regulatory relationships, 404/401 permitting, mitigation bank prospectus and mitigation banking instrument development, and aquatic resourcing functional assessment methods.
• Has demonstrated expertise in Project Management (minimum four years of experience).
• Has experience working with VA regulators (required)
• A strong communicator and multi-tasker.
• Strong technical writing skills.
• Have demonstrated organizational skills and strong attention to detail.
• Ability to work independently and in team environments. 
• Can travel with occasional overnight stays.
