Position Summary 5% King County Premium Pay will be added The essential function of this role is to provide fiscal support as a member of the Accounts Payable team. Using independent judgment, the Fiscal Specialist 1 position audits and process various invoice documents to complete payment requests in a high-volume environment. The individual will work cross-functionally with our procurement and accounting teams to follow internal controls established by governing boards. The individual will provide exceptional customer support as it relates to accounts payable functions to both internal and external partners. The Fiscal Specialist 1 reports to the Accounts Payable Manager under the supervision of the Assistant Controller.

Position Responsibilities - Independently perform all operational AP functions related to invoice processing or disbursements - Accurate and timely electronic processing of complex and detailed invoices for general expenses and other AP processes in accordance with established rules, regulations, policies and procedures.
- Review documents for correctness, appropriate signatures, determining chart field accuracy, determining taxability of purchases and 1099 reportable services, matching invoices to Purchase Orders (PO) and responding to exceptions, performing follow-up and expediting functions to process payments in a timely manner.
- Communicate with faculty and staff as needed to ensure that all procedures are met when submitting requests for payment and purchases.
- Research and resolve invoice issues related to AP functions.
- Reconciling vendor statements or other reports.
- Prepares batch check runs and ACH transactions. Notify Director or Assistant Controller of any ACH payments ready for release.
- Sorts checks by disbursement groups for special handling, prepares checks for mailing and for pick-up; adheres to established timelines.
- Responsible for Accounts payable clerical duties; maintain payment records, prepare and maintain electronic files, maintain integrity and organization of online files, etc.
- Accounts payable email monitoring. Respond timely and courteously to inquiries from customers, both internal and external
- Mail sorting and distribution for Business Office
- Support our Fiscal Analyst positions with daily tasks as needed.
- Cross train to ensure coverage of Accounts Payable/Travel and Expense
- Take on other duties and projects as assigned.
Qualifications Minimum Qualifications: - Associate's degree in accounting or related field or 2 years relevant accounting experience, in particular accounts payable.
- Be able to perform all the essential functions of the position.
- Strong attention to detail, accuracy, time management and work prioritization
- Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Applications
- Ability to work independently, but also be a team player.
- Strong customer service orientation
- Good verbal and written communication skills.

- May need to carry, lift or move equipment/supplies up to 25 lbs
