**What you will gain**
Our Summer Internship Program, beginning in June 2026, provides immersive training and introduction to Santander. You will be combining this training with practical experience on both technical and interpersonal skills, helping your development during the internship.
The 2026 Santander Summer Internship Program is for JD Students who have an expected graduation date between December 2026 and May/June 2027.
Santander US is a nationwide business with locations across the country. This position is located in **Boston, MA** or **New York, NY** .
- The base pay range for this position is posted below and represents the annualized salary range. For hourly positions (non-exempt), the annual range is based on a 40-hour work week. The exact compensation may vary based on skills, experience, training, licensure and certifications and location.
**Salary: $83,200/year**

As a Legal intern, intern, you will come out of this experience with an understanding of the legal profession within the banking and financial services industry. You will gain direct knowledge of key legal functions by working with at least two specialized areas such as litigation, regulatory relations, corporate governance, or consumer banking law, and could include exposure to auto finance, private banking, investment securities, or public policy. You'll learn how legal teams support complex financial institutions, manage risk, and ensure compliance across diverse business lines.
Responsibilities of the Legal internship may include but are not limited to:
- Perform substantive legal research and factual development.
- Provide written and oral presentations to Santander colleagues.
- Attend internal meetings with departments across the bank.
- Interface with senior management, other legal staff and LCA colleagues.
- May be given primary responsibility for generating first draft analyses to developing issues or responses to inquiries.
**What we are looking for**
- A student who is currently enrolled in a Juris Doctorate (JD) Program with an expected graduation date between either December 2026 or May/June 2027.
- Cumulative GPA is 3.0 or above.
- Demonstrates intellectual curiosity and courage.
- Strong English communication skills both written and spoken required.
- Analytical thinkers with a strong attention to detail.
- Organized and able to manage time and multiple tasks efficiently.
- Ability to work independently on special projects.
- Ability to effectively contribute to a team environment.
**It would be nice to have**
- Coursework in or exposure to accounting, finance, economics, or business. (Preferred)
- Experience in Microsoft Office products. (Preferred)
- Experience in legal research tool or systems, such as Westlaw, LexisNexis, or contract management platforms. (Preferred)
