Position Summary
We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Radiation Therapist to join our healthcare team. The Radiation Therapist is responsible for administering prescribed radiation treatments to patients with cancer and other diseases, ensuring accurate delivery of therapy while maintaining patient comfort and safety. This role requires strong technical expertise, attention to detail, and excellent interpersonal skills to support patients throughout their treatment journey.
Key Responsibilities
Administer prescribed doses of radiation to patients in accordance with physician instructions and treatment plans.
Operate and maintain linear accelerators and other radiation therapy equipment.
Accurately position patients using immobilization devices, imaging, and treatment verification tools.
Monitor patients during treatment sessions, observing for any adverse reactions or side effects.
Collaborate with radiation oncologists, medical physicists, and nurses to ensure accurate and effective treatment delivery.
Maintain precise treatment records, including dosage, equipment settings, and patient progress.
Provide patient education on treatment procedures, possible side effects, and supportive care resources.
Follow strict safety protocols to protect patients, staff, and self from unnecessary radiation exposure.
Participate in quality assurance procedures, equipment checks, and continuous improvement initiatives.
Qualifications
Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Radiation Therapy or related field.
Current ARRT (American Registry of Radiologic Technologists) certification in Radiation Therapy (T) required.
State licensure as required.
Strong technical skills in operating radiation therapy equipment and imaging systems.
Excellent communication, teamwork, and patient-care skills.
Ability to work with precision, follow protocols, and adapt to evolving technology.
Preferred Experience
Prior clinical experience in a hospital, cancer center, or radiation oncology setting.
Familiarity with electronic medical records (EMR) and treatment planning systems (e.g., Varian, Elekta, MOSAIQ, ARIA).
Working Conditions
Clinical environment with frequent interaction with patients undergoing treatment for cancer or other serious illnesses.
