The Spirit of the Position:

The Regional Controller position reports to the Senior Director of Regional Finance with a secondary report to the region’s Senior and Regional Vice Presidents and supports the region and it’s management by ensuring accuracy in compiling and reporting all financial information related to the region in a timely and accurate manner.

Principal Job Duties:

  • Review monthly financial reports that have been completed by the Home Office Accounting Teams to ensure compliance to GAAP accounting and company policy.
  • Proactive and timely review of the monthly variance notes before they are sent to the regional and HO teams.
  • Drive the annual budget process with the operational teams and department heads
  • Prepare and review semi-annual reforecasts.
  • Review of monthly balance sheet and bank reconciliations for the region.
  • Develop and implement policies, controls, and procedures to improve financial performance, efficiency, and accuracy region wide.
  • Collect and measure financial data to analyze financial performance and present findings to management.
  • Prepare various ad hoc reports for the RVP/SVP and Director of Regional Finance.
  • Partners with Regional Operations Teams to analyze and solve operational and financial challenges and opportunities within the region.
  • Review and interpret contracts to assist in compliance and internal/external reporting needs and profitability.
  • Review proformas for new business to ensure profitability and accuracy.
  • Lead and train operating team in LAZ accounting policies and compliance.
  • Overseeing the teams of bookkeepers for the regions who are responsible for account maintenance and new account enrollment, utilizing a proprietary AR System.
  • Provide support for significant new projects or initiatives being deployed with the region from a financial perspective.
  • Act as the point person between the Home Office Finance Departments and the Region
  • Answer incoming emails and electronic requests.
  • Ability to travel as needed across the Northeast - typically two to four days a month (NY, NJ, MA, RI).
  • Additional duties as assigned.

Requirements:

  • Degree in Accounting or minimum of 10 years equivalent experience.
  • 5+ years in Financial Analysis, Financial Operations or an operational or general management role within the company or similar industry with financial reporting responsibilities.
  • 3+ years in a management role.
  • Advance to expert knowledge of Microsoft Excel.
  • Neat, clean, and professional appearance.
  • Must have strong communication, leadership and organizational skills.
  • Excellent analytical ability.
  • Excellent verbal, interpersonal and written communication skills.
  • Property management accounting experience is preferred but not required.
  • Parking industry experience is preferred but not required.

Compensation:

  • Compensation will be commensurate with experience and will include a base salary, bonus opportunity and a comprehensive benefits package.
