Avera is currently seeking Registered Nurses (RN) looking to deliver the best possible nursing care in Avera’s patient-focused settings.

Job Summary

• Care for critically and chronically ill patients and create a supportive environment.
• Educate patients about treatment options, procedures and particularities of the disease and keep up to date with new treatment methods.
• Assess patient’s physical and emotional conditions, medical history, health habits and practices and document in patient’s medical record.
• Triage patient problems and assist in the evaluation of symptoms and initiation of interventions as ordered by the physician or nurse practitioner.
• Administer subcutaneous, intramuscular, and intravenous medications as ordered using the correct medication, dosage/amount, route, time and technique.
• Proficient in technical skills as follows but not limited to: venipuncture, IV starts, access and maintenance of implanted ports, Hickman catheters, intraperitoneal ports and PICC lines. Able to assist physician or nurse practitioner with intrathecal chemotherapy administration and lumbar punctures.

Education and/or Experience

• Graduate from an accredited nursing program.
• A minimum of one year of oncology nursing experience is desirable, but not required.

Licensure/Certification/Registration

• Current license from the State of South Dakota Board of Nursing.
• CPR certification required.
• OCN and ACLS certifications preferred.

Work Schedule

• Varied Shifts; PRN

Pay

The hourly range for this position is listed below. Actual hourly rate dependent upon experience.  

• $26.25 - $39.25 per hour
