About Global Cities
Global Cities, Inc., a Program of Bloomberg Philanthropies, promotes skills that today’s youth require for citizenship in tomorrow’s world. Global Cities has extensive experience using technology to forge connections among students and educators that promote learning, including through Global Scholars, our signature virtual exchange program for public school students. Through the program, students ages 10 to 13 engage in constructive dialogue with peers across the globe in e-classrooms. Their posts, replies, and digital projects are primary texts for them to learn about other cities and perspectives, and how to solve the shared global issue they are studying. Currently, Global Scholars connects over 10,400 students and more than 500 educators in 546 cities around the world.
About the Role
Global Cities seeks an accomplished social science researcher with a background in K-12 education, experience managing research partnerships and expertise in quantitative and qualitative methodologies. The ideal candidate will be skilled in coordinating multiple project stakeholders and communicating research findings to diverse non-academic as well as academic audiences. In addition to overseeing ongoing data collection and evaluation projects, the Research Director will be responsible for reviewing and managing Global Cities’ historical data to identify new opportunities to generate shareable insights of value to the education subfields of global competency and virtual exchange. Attention to detail, knowledge of and sensitivity to American and international research ethics and data privacy policies, and strong written and oral communication skills are essential.
Global Cities operates its and has a strong record of collecting, analyzing, and sharing data that demonstrate the program’s impact. This work has allowed us to develop such tools as our and that can be used to define, teach, and assess global competency in any classroom. Global Cities now seeks to extend the impact of this data-driven approach through initiatives that include applications of the Codebook to other virtual exchange program curricula, educator workshops, and district training partnerships. Global Cities also has a rich collection of data from its decade of implementing the Global Scholars program with great potential for analysis.

LOCATION: New York, NY. This position is based in a physical office in New York City, with a full-time in-person schedule.
COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS: Annual salary range: $150,000- $190,000
