Job Description

Job Overview: The Army is looking for skilled and experienced civilian candidates for the position of Range and Explosives Safety Manager within the FORSCOM Safety Office. This position serves as the technical advisor/subject-matter-expert/program manager for the Ammunition/Explosives/Range Safety program for U.S. Army Forces Command. Incumbent is responsible for the planning, development, organization, administration, review and evaluation, and coordination of FORSCOM’s Ammunition/explosives/range safety program.

Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Reviews and evaluates the FORSCOM ammunition/explosives/range safety program for compliance with DOD, Army Secretariat, and HQDA requirements.
  • Provides authoritative and expert advice on accident prevention matters to include safety management, safety policies, safety procedures, accident reporting and analysis, safety field surveys, operations testing, and safety research.
  • Represents FORSCOM at meetings involving ammunition/explosives/range safety with other services, staff agencies, and other federal agencies.
  • Conducts trend analysis and develops or recommends new or revised policies, to resolve serious and/or extremely hazardous conditions.
  • Provides authoritative counsel to FORSCOM staff, and subordinate commands, on high-risk operations.
  • Assigns program activities relating to ammunition/explosives/range safety to subordinate FORSCOM commands and ensures that each echelon participates fully in the program and is in compliance with program guidelines.

Qualifications: One year of experience which includes planning, developing, implementing, coordinating, evaluating, and supervising a Flag Officer-level ammunition/explosives/range safety program and serving as the technical safety advisor/consultant throughout the command.
