POSITION SUMMARY: The Safety Coordinator is responsible for overseeing and implementing safety programs and procedures within the organization to ensure a safe and compliant working environment.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: - Develop and Implement Safety Programs: Design, implement, and monitor safety protocols and procedures to ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations related to workplace safety.
- Conduct Safety Audits and Inspections: Perform regular safety inspections of the facility, machinery, and processes to identify potential hazards, ensuring a safe working environment for all employees.
- Employee Training and Development: Coordinate and conduct safety training programs for employees, including topics such as proper equipment handling, emergency response, and hazard communication.
- Accident Investigation and Reporting: Lead investigations into workplace accidents, injuries, or near-misses, and ensure accurate and timely reporting. Develop recommendations to prevent future incidents.
- Maintain Safety Records: Keep detailed records of safety audits, inspections, incident reports, and employee training to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Risk Assessment and Hazard Analysis: Perform job hazard analyses and risk assessments to proactively identify potential safety risks, implementing measures to minimize or eliminate them.
- Collaborate with Management and Staff: Work closely with supervisors, production teams, and Quality Control to ensure that safety procedures are followed and to address any safety concerns promptly.
- Ensure Compliance with Safety Regulations: Stay up-to-date with OSHA, EPA, and other relevant safety standards and regulations, ensuring the facility operates in full compliance.
- Emergency Response Coordination: Develop and implement emergency response plans, including evacuation procedures, and coordinate emergency drills to prepare staff for potential emergencies.
- Ergonomics and Work Environment Improvement: Assess the ergonomics of workstations and make recommendations to improve employee comfort and reduce the risk of repetitive strain injuries.
- Promote a Safety-First Culture: Encourage a proactive approach to safety across all departments, fostering a culture of responsibility and vigilance in identifying and addressing safety issues.
- Incident and Injury Follow-up: Ensure appropriate medical attention is provided to injured employees and follow up on corrective actions to ensure long-term safety improvements.
- Manage Workers' Compensation Claims: Assist in the management of workers' compensation claims by documenting incidents, working with insurance providers, and coordinating with medical professionals to ensure proper care for injured employees while supporting their safe return to work.
- Coordinate Safety Technician Responsibilities: Oversee and coordinate the activities of the safety technicians, providing guidance, training, and support to ensure they effectively implement safety protocols, conduct inspections, and address safety concerns throughout the facility.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: - Ability to walk, stand and perform inspections in various weather conditions and uneven terrains.
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to climb ladders, stairs, and work at heights.
- Ability to work in confined spaces.
- Manual dexterity to operate equipment and tools.
- Ability to wear and work with personal protective equipment as required.
- Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
- Visual acuity to observe equipment, processes, and hazards.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced and physically demanding environment.
REQUIRED SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS: - 3+ years of work experience in environmental, health, and safety related role
- Bilingual (Spanish/English)- Preferred
- Candidate must be eligible to work in the U.S. to be considered for this position.
- Working knowledge of Cal/OSHA, EPA, NFPA regulations, policies, programs, PPE (Personal Protective Equipment), and accident/injury investigation procedures
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Suite (Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, Excel)
- Must have a valid current State Driver's License.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently, establish priorities, and accomplish objectives with minimal supervision.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Team player with strong interpersonal skills
- Ability to work flexible hours and overtime as needed.
- Ability to facilitate meetings and training for all levels of employees.
- Experience in implementing safety programs in agricultural manufacturing environments.
PREFERRED SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS: - OSHA 30 Certification or BCSP Certification - Preferred
- Certification in First Aid/CPR/AED or First Responder
- Associate's degree in occupational safety and health, or related field of study- Experience can substitute for degree.
- Demonstrated ability to author reports and complete audit procedures.
