Schedule: Week 1 Mon, Tue; Week 2 Tue, Sat; Week 3 Sun, Wed; Week 4 Tue, Thu

Job Summary

Under the direction of the Emergency Department Unit Director, the Emergency Department Unit Support Assistant/Monitor Tech performs clerical, secretarial and monitor tech duties inherent in the operation of the ED. The Unit Support Assistant/Monitor Tech works in an area of intense varied activity, which at times can be very stressful. The Unit Support Assistant/Monitor Tech must be able to keep calm and maintain a high level of efficiency regardless of surrounding distractions.

Essential Duties

• Notifies admitting of change in patient status, admit or transfer.
• Acts as a receptionist for the Unit.
• Admits patient onto central monitor and notifies RN of status change.
• Acts as a communication liaison between other departments, physician offices, and patients’ families.
• Transcribes physician orders.
• Orders labs, imaging, diet and test for all patients
• Coordinates the transfer of patients to another facility.
• Maintains the Emergency Department logs.
• Prepares requisitions for diagnostic and therapeutic services for patients.
• Facilitates scheduling of follow-up outpatient procedures.
• Files Emergency Department reports; maintains previous ED records.
• Communication liaison between EMS, 911 Dispatch, & Police Officers.

Qualifications

License/Certification:

• Arrhythmia certification within three months of hire

Experience

• Medical terminology
• Ability to work in a high volume and fast paced environment

Education

• High school diploma or GED

Pay Range

$18.74 - $25.77 /hour
