Primary Purpose and Organizational Context The Department of Athletics exists to provide educational and athletic opportunities to student-athletes and to support a premier intercollegiate athletic program. Primary purpose of the Athletic Event Management unit is to provide outstanding service to more than 30 discreet business units within athletic varsity competition, with focus on the student-athlete experience. The unit coordinates planning, execution, and evaluation of GameDay, ensuring safety and positive experiences for student-athletes, staff and fans. The Athletic Event Management unit collaborates with campus-wide operating units and external partners to support events and operations. Position Summary Under the direction of the Associate Athletic Director for Athletic Event Management, this position leads, manages and directs Athletic GameDay, a university program of considerable scope and complexity. This role oversees operations and services focusing on GameDay operations leadership with strategic planning for assigned athletic events and key departmental roles, and emphasizes staff and fan engagement. It also focuses on developing, maintaining and strengthening collaborative relationships throughout the Athletic Department and with campus-wide operating units and partners. Minimum Education and Experience Bachelor’s degree and one year of experience related to the area of assignment; or equivalent combination of training and experience. All degrees must be from appropriately accredited institutions. Required Qualifications Bachelor’s degree from an appropriately accredited institution and programming experience related to the area of assignment, including one year of supervisory program experience, or an equivalent combination of training and experience. Preferred Qualifications Understanding of Division I Athletic policies and protocols. Ability to multitask, be proactive, calm and personable under pressure. Previous experience with event management and interpersonal skills; work effectively as a team member. Listening and communication skills in various environments; strong situational awareness and ability to prioritize and stay composed under pressure. Ability to take direction, exercise critical thinking, and design event-related materials. Possession of emergency management skills; familiarity with PA, Radio, Scoreboards; AED, First Aid/CPR and experience with two-way radios. General knowledge of ACC and NCAA competition guidelines related to game management. Licenses and Certifications Valid NC Driver’s License. Special Physical/Mental Requirements Ability to stand for long periods; exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally and/or 20 pounds frequently, and/or 10 pounds constantly to move objects. Subject to inside/outside environmental conditions and hazards; exposure to extreme weather, oils, and infectious diseases. Campus Security Authority Responsibilities This position is designated as a Campus Security Authority in accordance with the Clery Act. It requires reporting Clery crimes to the Clery Compliance Manager and completing annual training about reporting responsibilities.
