Our pay is very competitive and benefits vary for seasonal or year-round staff. Description


Position Title: Bartender

Reports To: Beverage Manager or F&B Manager

Department: Food & Beverage

Employment Dates: Temporary; Dates Range mid-May through mid-October

Purpose of Position: Under the direction of the Beverage Manager and or F&B Manager, the Bartender is a non-exempt seasonal positions responsible for providing members and their guests with the highest quality bar and dining experience. Performs all work in accordance with essential functions and responsibilities as described below and in the spirit of the Club's mission and vision.

Responsibilities: Duties shall include but not be limited to:
  • With a welcoming and professional demeanour, timely and accurately takes and fulfils orders and provides an exceptional bar service for members and their guests, anticipating their wants and needs. Facilitates a warm and welcoming environment in the Grill.
  • Learns and remembers members' names and preferences.
  • Knowledgeable of current bartending techniques and innovations. Keeps informed of industry standards and trends in beer, wines and spirits. Pursues related continuing education and training opportunities. Maintains necessary certifications and applicable professional affiliations.
  • Stays familiar with, and accurately describes bar drink and food menu items and their preparation. Ensures all items served are correct and meet NGC quality standards.
  • Communicates orders effectively to the kitchen and bar. May runs food and clears tables.
  • Attends pre-service meetings and communicates questions, comments and concerns to other staff members to improve the service and experience of the membership.
  • Works cooperatively with all other food and beverage staff. Assists other wait-staff and management as needed.
  • Communicates specials and upcoming events to members. Maximizes sales within the dining areas using up-selling techniques.
  • Performs opening and closing shift side work and weekly cleaning. Ensures bar area and presentation is to NGC standards. Helps maintain and organize bar and storage areas.
  • Addresses members' concerns immediately and to their satisfaction. Communicates any problems and potential issues to management.
  • Completes transactions and closing paperwork accurately and timely. Ensures chit charges are accurate and settled to the correct account.
  • Assists Beverage Manager with inventory as designated.
  • Observes food serve safe practices and all general Club safety protocols.
  • Participates in required trainings and meetings.
  • Performs other tasks and duties as required.

Qualifications :

Experience/Education:
  • High school degree or equivalent
  • 3 years bartending experience, preferably in a private club environment
  • TIPs certified
Work Environment and Physical Demands:
  • Work tasks are performed indoors and outdoors. Temperature generally is moderate and controlled by club environmental system.
  • Position requires walking and standing for long periods of time. Length of time of these tasks may vary from day to day and task to task.
  • Must be able to exert well-paced ability to maneuverer between functions occurring simultaneously.
  • Requires grasping, writing, standing, sitting, walking, repetitive motions, bending, climbing, listening and hearing ability and visual acuity.
  • Requires communicating effectively with members, guests, co-workers, and supervisors.
  • Must be able to lift up to 30 lbs. on a regular and continuing basis.
  • Must be able to lift trays of food or food items weighing up to 30 lbs.
  • Must be able to push and pull carts and equipment weighing up to 50 lbs. occasionally.
  • Requires manual dexterity to use and operate all necessary equipment.
  • Requires occasional exposure to tobacco smoke.
Projected Work Schedule: The Bartender position may either be part-time or full-time depending on business levels. Full-time schedules must be available to work a minimum six day work week that may exceed that of 40 hours per week. Weekend and evening hours required. Any request or anticipated absence from the agreed schedule requires prior approval from the Beverage or F&B Manager.
