About Our Job Denver Public Library (DPL) is a growing urban library system that serves the residents of the City & County of Denver. About Our Team The Special Collections and Archives (SCA) unit at Denver Public Library comprises two repositories at the Central Library and the African American Research Library at Blair-Caldwell Library. Our team of over thirty librarians, archivists and paraprofessionals are committed to exceptional access, preservation and customer service for our world class collections. About Our Position DPL is hiring a Catalog Support Assistant to support work and access to collections as part of the Technical Services Department of the Special Collections and Archives subdivision. You will Collaborate with the Cataloging Supervisor and the entire cataloging team to support a steady flow of production Prepare library materials, including books, maps, serials, and media, for the shelf or binding according to local practices Check in new periodicals and other serials promptly, ensuring that the catalog is accurate and up to date Assess and repair print materials to support long-term use and accessibility Occasionally support coverage needs elsewhere in the subdivision, including collections retrieval, photo sales, and filling interlibrary loan requests About You Do you have a passion for libraries and archives? For the Catalog Support Assistant role, we're looking for someone who has a vision and can create a plan for successful execution and has some or all of the following skills and experiences: Attention to detail and customer service skills Experience with Polaris or other ILS software is preferred, but not required Familiarity with MARC bibliographic records and Dewey classification Ability to use basic workplace technology, including email, internet, and office software Ability and interest in learning new software Skill at managing multiple projects at once Ability to creatively and collaboratively solve problems and ask questions in a collegial environment Demonstrated ability to manage time effectively Ability to follow workflows and thrive on attention to detail Ability to demonstrate a positive attitude, excellent interpersonal skills, cultural humility, and a sense of humor in working with customers, coworkers, and community members Minimum Qualifications: Graduation from high school or the possession of a GED, HiSET, or TASC Certificate.
