Overview The Channing Division of Network Medicine, Brigham and Women's Hospital, is seeking applicants for a Biostatistician position to contribute to advanced statistical methods research and epidemiologic studies with Professor Bernard Rosner. This position will support research for the Nurses Health Study Cohorts and the Harvard Catalyst biostatistics group. These longitudinal studies aim to understand and prevent the incidence of chronic diseases, cancer, and aging. We are looking for a biostatistician with a background in epidemiology and advanced programming skills who will work with Dr. Rosner and colleagues to perform research analyses, contribute to academic papers and act as a resource for other programmers. The ideal candidate is a fast learner who is able to meet short programming timelines for a variety of statistical analyses for both internal and external research collaborations. Responsibilities Responsibilities include data analysis, study design, data interpretation, and reporting in support of multiple research projects. Works with Dr. Rosner and NHS investigators to perform advanced data analysis of longitudinal data from the Nurses Health Study cohort. Interprets statistical results, drawing conclusions and communicating findings. Contributes to research publications. Provides statistical programming support and sample code to a broad group of investigators. Interprets requests from researchers and applies programming strategy, using SAS, cohort-developed SAS macros, and other statistical packages. Proficient in SAS; applies advanced programming techniques in SAS; requires experience in macro development and proficiency with statistical functions. Has intermediate knowledge of R with a strong interest in improving skills. Able to evaluate statistical R packages against NHS-derived SAS macros. Develops code, implements algorithms, and runs simulations to test code for new statistical methods. Develops and implements SAS and R macros of statistical methods for use by outside users. Acts as a resource on programming for researchers and programmers. Performs all other appropriate programming tasks as required. Experience & Education Education: Master\'s Degree in Biostatistics required or Master\'s Degree in a related field required. Experience: 2 years as a biostatistician or data analyst required.
