As an HVAC Smart Buildings Account Executive , you will be responsible for driving sales of Johnson Controls’ industry-leading building automation and HVAC control solutions to commercial building owners. You’ll leverage your deep industry expertise to deliver intelligent, energy-efficient systems that optimize building performance and occupant comfort. This role focuses on cultivating long-term customer relationships, positioning Johnson Controls as a trusted advisor, and delivering value through innovative solutions and service agreements.

You will work independently to identify and pursue opportunities, influence key stakeholders, and close complex sales that align with customer goals and Johnson Controls’ strategic objectives.

How you will do it
  • Sell Johnson Controls’ HVAC controls and smart building solutions with confidence and credibility to building owners, facility managers, and decision-makers.
  • Develop and execute account strategies that position Johnson Controls as the preferred partner for building automation and HVAC modernization.
  • Build strong, consultative relationships with customers by understanding their business cycles, operational challenges, and long-term goals.
  • Promote the value of renewable service agreements as a foundation for ongoing customer engagement and system optimization.
  • Collaborate with internal teams including operations, engineering, and service to ensure seamless project delivery and customer satisfaction.
  • Identify and qualify new opportunities through proactive outreach, networking, and industry engagement.
  • Differentiate Johnson Controls’ offerings by applying creativity, technical expertise, and a deep understanding of HVAC systems and building automation.
  • Advocate for the customer within Johnson Controls, ensuring expectations are met and value is delivered throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Participate in final inspections, customer training, and post-installation support to reinforce long-term relationships.
What we look for

Required Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 3–5 years of experience in commercial HVAC and building automation sales , with a proven track record of success.
  • Deep understanding of HVAC systems, controls, and smart building technologies .
  • Strong business acumen and ability to align technical solutions with customer objectives.
  • Demonstrated ability to influence stakeholders and close complex sales.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and relationship-building skills.
  • High level of integrity, initiative, and professionalism.
  • Proficiency in CRM tools and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel locally to customer sites.

Salary Range: HIRING SALARY RANGE: $69-92k(Salary to be determined by the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant, internal equity, location and alignment with market data.) This role also offers a competitive Sales Incentive Plan that will take into account project, quarterly, and annual margin. This position includes a competitive benefits package.
