Hyundai Motor Group North American Quality Center. (NAQC) is currently looking for a New Model Evaluation Engineer at our Chino, CA facility who will:

On a day-to-day basis, the NAQC New Model Engineer will

  • Test and evaluate Chassis/PT/EL concerns for new vehicle models and provide recommendations for improvement.
  • Investigate/support testing and evaluation of Chassis/PT/EL quality issues on Hyundai, Genesis or Kia vehicles responding to requests from Hyundai Motor Group, sales affiliates, vehicle assembly plants, and sudden increases in warranty claims.
  • Conduct field or on-site investigations to collect subjective and objective data during driving to identify concern to perform root cause analysis.
  • Develop and utilize knowledge of Chassis/PT/EL Fundamentals including NVH, Steering, Ride & Handling, Brakes, EV System, ADAS, Infotainment, etc.
  • Develop and utilize experience with vehicle sensors (LiDAR, radar, etc.), motor driven steering systems, collision avoidance system, adaptive control, lane departure, tire monitor system, etc.
  • Use basic shop equipment (tire balancer/charger, lift, etc.) & other Chassis/PT/EL engineering test equipment.
  • Plan, lead, and provide support in collaboration with other groups/affiliates of test plans for the various quality tests done for new models including Ride & Handling, NVH, Flat Spot Testing, Hot and Cold weather tests.
  • Develop schedules and advise outsourced companies to ensure all deliverables are met as per contract.
  • Perform engineering analysis and research results for 'lessons learned' on current and future models.
  • Benchmark competitive vehicles to research differences and improve HMG vehicle systems.
  • Research, procure and maintain new technology, tools, and methods for data acquisition or analysis.
  • Conduct vehicle audits for Hyundai & Kia models during developmental stages and after vehicle launch.
  • Create and present technical and weekly reports as assigned.

Candidates considered will...

  • Basic Qualifications
    • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Automotive Engineering, or a related field.
    • Have 0-2 Years experience in automotive engineering, preferably Chassis/PT/EL experience strongly desired
    • Travel up to 30% of the time, both domestically and internationally.
    • Preferred Qualifications
      • Knowledge of Quality Assurance and Quality Control principles and practices.
      • Project management experience preferred.
      • Valid driver's license and satisfactory driving record.
