POSITION DESCRIPTION:

Think Tank is a woman-owned small business with more than 27 years of proven success delivering exceptional IT, marine and fisheries services to the federal government. We are currently seeking an ideal candidate for the position of Oracle Database Developer to support an upcoming proposal with the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration. Résumé of successful candidate(s) will be included with our proposal.

The Oracle Database Developer will oversee the creation, management, and optimization of relational Oracle databases used to store protected species survey, telemetry, tagging, and biological data. This role ensures the data infrastructure is secure, scalable, and supports ecological analysis and reporting.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Design and maintain complex relational Oracle databases for ecological and biological datasets.
• Create custom database queries, views, and interfaces to support scientific research.
• Develop and apply data quality control procedures.
• Migrate location data into spatial databases and optimize query performance.
• Document database structure, workflows, and metadata.
• Provide training and technical support to team members using database tools.

REQUIREMENTS:

• Bachelor's or advanced degree in fisheries, quantitative ecology or related discipline.
• At least 5 years of experience in data analysis, computer programming, statistical analyses, open source AI/ML data processes, or proficiency in Web Design
• Strong experience in Oracle database design and development.
• Proficiency in SQL and spatial data integration.
• Ability to collaborate with research scientists to translate analytical needs into database solutions.
• Familiarity with ecological data management
