Overview Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center - Surgery Center: Winston Salem • Outpatient Surgery Center in Winston-Salem, NC Position: Registered Nurse, Operating Room. Full time, 40 hours per week. Schedule: 4-10 hour shifts per week Monday-Friday. No holidays, call, or weekends. Pay range: $32.45 - $48.70. Responsibilities Independently plans and provides professional nursing care for patients in the ambulatory setting in accordance with the medical and nursing plans of care and established policies and procedures. Directs and leads other assigned team members and collaborates with multidisciplinary team members to provide age/developmentally appropriate care in accordance with nursing standards of care and practice. Provides nursing services to patients and families in accordance with the scope of the RN as defined by the North Carolina Board of Nursing. Essential Functions: Registered Nurse Ambulatory-Outpatient provides patient/family centered care, supports patients and families to optimally manage their health care, and coordinates nursing services across the care continuum. Maintains professional development and participates in shared governance, quality improvement activities, and ongoing education. Performs and maintains competency for point of care testing as assigned, ensuring compliance with WFBH Point of Care policies and applicable state and federal regulations. Qualifications Graduation from accredited school of nursing. Ambulatory Clinic: BSN preferred. Two years of acute care experience required for clinics. Prefer acute care experience within the last 10 years. Ambulatory Surgical Center: Minimum of one year Operating Room experience or participation in a post-graduate program required. Refresher course required for nurses who have not worked in an Operating Room for five years or more. Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) required. Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) or Pediatric Emergency Assessment, Recognition and Stabilization (PEARS) may be required within one year in select areas. Proficient in communication, teamwork, and documentation; ability to stand/walk for extended periods and lift up to 50 pounds. Skills Assess nursing needs of acute and chronically ill patients and families. Ability to seek resources and work collaboratively; establish and maintain effective working relationships. Clear communication with patients, families, healthcare team, physicians, and leadership. Teach patients and families according to the nursing plan of care; proficient with computer systems and documentation. Infection control knowledge and safety procedures; understanding of regulatory requirements.
