KPMG is currently seeking an Advisory Intern for our Federal Technology Enablement practice in Consulting.

Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with multi-disciplinary and cross-functional teams to identify business problems and assist in the development of processes and recommendations to help our Federal clients drive enterprise performance using available technology as an enabler
  • Rapidly iterate models and results to refine and assess approach; Work in a fast-paced and dynamic environment with both virtual and face-to-face interactions; Utilize structured approaches to solving problems, managing risks and documenting assumptions while communicating results and educating others through insightful visualizations, reports and presentations
  • Perform explanatory data analyses, develop, manage and execute data analytics experimentations, analyze historical data, generate, engineer and evaluate machine learning features, identify patterns in data then execute machine learning, natural language and statistical analysis methods, define and apply metrics to evaluate performance of machine learning and data science models and deploy models and data science artifacts at scale
  • Develop code to prepare, extract and enrich a variety of structured and unstructured data sources, working with our clients to understand available resources and constraints around data; perform explanatory data analyses, prepare and analyze historical data and identify patterns; perform data analytics and develop complex dashboards and reproducible visualizations
  • Communicate technical details of recommendation, including mathematical formulations, alternatives and impact on modeling approach to business stakeholders
  • Translate advanced business analytics problems into technical approaches that yield actionable recommendations; identify trends, patterns and insights for data-driven decision making

Qualifications:

  • Must be enrolled in an accredited college or university and pursuing the following degrees/majors; Bachelors, Masters or PhD in Data Science, Computer Science, Applied Statistics, Applied Mathematics, Engineering, or equivalent program from an accredited college or university
  • Must have a current/most recent GPA of 3.00 or above
  • Ability to apply artificial intelligence and machine learning techniques to achieve concrete business goals
  • Proficiency with programming languages such as Python, R, Java, SQL and their open-source packages/libraries
  • Technical understanding of data preparation approaches, as well as statistical analysis, machine learning, natural language processing and artificial intelligence methods
  • Familiarity with commercial data visualization tools (Tableau, PowerBI and QlikView) and/or open-source web frameworks and UI platforms (e.g. Flask, Shiny, Django, Dash).
  • Experience with cloud native container technologies such as Kubernetes, OpenShift, or Docker experience with Terraform, Ansible, Chef and Puppet is a preferred.
  • Knowledge of cloud platforms and services, Web/RESTful service development, HTML5, JavaScript/Angular/React/Redux and strong SQL skills with a working knowledge of relational databases such as SQL Server, Oracle, PostgreSQL, etc. to retrieve, transform and analyze financial datasets is preferred.
  • Strong communication, time management and leadership skills; flexible and adaptable team player; and resourceful in delivering high quality work
  • Applicant must be eligible for or possess a U.S. Government Security clearance
  • Must reside within a commutable distance of the office for this position and be responsible for your own transportation, such as personal vehicle or public transportation, to get to and from office / client locations to satisfactorily fulfill your job duties, as determined by your practice leadership
  • Work location may be in the office, at client sites, or virtual/remote depending on business need. You must be located within the U.S. when working remotely. Client site locations may require travel and overnight/extended stay.
