Elevator Mechanic

Description:

Preventive maintenance and inspections , executing non-routine alterations or minor repairs or replacements, wiring and rewiring electric units, recording data from inspections, reading blueprints, and adapting to equipment-specific technology and controls.\rThe work locations can be at DLA Headquarters Complex (Fort Belvoir, VA), Defense Supply Center Richmond (VA), Defense Supply Center Columbus (OH), or DLA Distribution Center Susquehanna (PA).\r The Elevator Mechanic maintains, inspects, repairs, tests, or modifies elevators and vertical lift systems, including equipment, safety devices, annunciators, computer and electronic systems, portable UPS devices, and Campus View Monitoring system to ensure continuous, reliable, and safe operation.\rDuties include maintaining existing lift equipment in good working condition and performing routine maintenance.

Requirements:

Necessary Skills and Knowledge: Journeyman Level Mechanic specifically qualified and trained to work on lift equipment systems. Basic electrical and mechanical knowledge (troubleshooting, meter reading, etc.). Computer literacy and writing skills.\r Minimum Qualifications: High school diploma or equivalent. Minimum of five years of related work experience. Specifically qualified and trained to work on lift equipment systems. Journeyman Level Mechanic. Ability to pass a background investigation. Must be a US citizen.\r Preferred Qualifications: Certified Elevator Technician (CET). Knowledge of a variety of elevator and lift systems (e.g., Traflomatic IV, Swift Meridia, G & T Inc, AEMA).
