Position Summary: DMC Mining is looking for a
Safety Coordinator in
Tucon, USA on
Fixed Term Contract . The Safety Coordinator is responsible for leading, managing and implementing all health safety and training initiatives for the Project. They will be responsible for establishing and maintaining the Underground Mine Rescue Team. Working with Operations to perform risk assessments, HAZOPs and procedural documentation as required, assuring adequate safety supplies, PPE, signage etc to perform all underground mining related activities. They will be responsible for records keeping and testing to maintain MSHA compliance.
Responsibilities: Identify and maintain a list of all applicable laws, regulations, codes and standards and ensure the HSEC plan and Project complies with them
Ensure the HSEC Plan requirements are met
Contribute towards building a strong safety culture
Develop and maintain the training & competency matrix and training records
Implement DMCs MSHA Training Plan
Ensure employees are qualified, based on the appropriate combination of experience, education and training
Support the onboarding and pre-access process for new hires
Complete new hire inductions & orientations
Ensure DMC Cardinal Rules are followed
Interacting with regulatory agencies and standards bodies
Provide reference materials, technical advice, training and support to the Project Team
Lead Weekly Safety Meetings
Facilitates the investigation of incidents, accidents and injuries and assures the compilation and submittal of accident / incident reports required by DMC Mining Services and regulatory agencies, when required.
Maintain DMC bulletin boards
Co-ordinate Mine Rescue preparedness
Assist in the development of site specific procedural documents
Co-ordinate the Industrial Hygiene Program
Point of contact on all return to wok matters
Contribute towards risk assessments and other hazards identification methods
Collect and analyze monthly and quarterly HSE and Training statistics and develop reports.
Qualifications: Minimum 5 years of health, safety and training experience in the Mining Industry
MSHA IS/IU/MM
Mine Rescue Instructor (blue card)
First aid trained
Industrial hygiene knowledge or certification
Workers comp knowledge
Previous supervisory experience at least 3 years would be desirable
In-depth knowledge of the 30 CFR
CFR 30 part 48, advanced first aid and HAZWOPER certified
Intermediate level proficiency in Microsoft Office suite.
